Europa! --tantalizing moon of Jupiter and a seemingly stellar soul sister. From your first matter of fact mention by a worn teacher, in a tired classroom, I felt a special kinship with you. Even on the lips of that Instructor, long past his prime of inspiration, your name quickened my pulse. You, one of the smoothest objects in the solar system, seductive in your icy beauty, and frozen just like me.
Not a solid sphere of ice…unmoving and fixed, no yours is only a frigid outer layer with your liquid oceans of mysteries flowing beneath your icy crust. Just as my own reservoir of love and creativity flows under my frozen and desolate outer shell. Sister Europa, you who spins faster than you orbit, an ever internal asymmetry of mass and subsurface liquid—how I am like you. I have been twirling quicker than I can handle and have been spiraling away from myself and my destiny on an ever more asymmetrical path as well.
My my…how I am amazed at your beautiful lineae, structures that hint at the warmer layers of life below. All at once, I think of how my own warm currents of creativity are breaking free and revealing themselves on my formerly purely icy surface—I find that with every line of prose, every reflection, and every insight revealed, that my own lovely lineae are being drawn out and etched.
All of this is pure magical coincidence… for Europa, your heart and healing grace is that liquid water, kept balmy by the tidally generated heat of radioactive decay…and for me, the healing powers come from a heart re-filled-- and it has begun to warm and melt my frozen layers.
